School Sucks

School is kicking my butt. Seriously. I'm about to die from school related stress. Why oh why did I think I could take 3 classes? I have no idea. I must have been crazy. I really want to get finished with school quickly, but I'm not sure it's worth all the stress. Holy cow.

So today, I had a killer take home test due along with a test in my other class. So you think, hey, take come test shouldn't be that bad, but that's not how it went down. This test was seriously 8 pages long. It was more like writing a research paper. It took about 12 hours. Arg.

So this is where I stand now:
Information Systems:
Group Paper - 20 pages, 30 minute power point presentation
Rough draft due in 3 weeks, final draft & presentation 2 weeks after that
ACL Project - computer auditing project
Due in 3 weeks
Article Summary - Power Point Class Presentation
Due in 3 weeks
Accounting Theory:
Individual presentation - 5 page paper & power point presentation
Due in 3 weeks
Financial Management (online class)
Group Projects - Wall Street Journal Essay & Case Study
Both due in 2 weeks
Essay almost done
Case - narrated power point presentation & 15 page paper
Calculation done only. Lots of work left.

So yeah, I'm stressed. Maybe I should forgo any fun, personal things right now.
I think I can, I think I can..... maybe

Life is good

So here's the brief synopsis of what's been going on:
  • Started a new job last Tuesday
  • Got sick at said new job & missed most of Tuesday & Wednesday
  • Returned to work on Thursday - did not get fired!!!
  • School is kicking my tail. It's actually not hard, just a lot. Group projects in all 3 classes, 2 in my online class, one that is due in 2 weeks, with a test first
  • Rented the spare bedroom to a kid from Gainesville who was commuting to UNF every day. Feels good to do something good.
  • Possibly sold Craig's car (yes the yellow one) to above mentioned kid
  • Bought a new truck, which makes selling Craig's car an option
  • Got totally wrapped up in the vampire LARP. I absolutely love it!!!! Who knew?
  • Recruited some other Mormons to LARP with us. Good times.
Basically, life is good & I'm loving it.

Flying to Colorado

For Craig & I, flying to Colorado has been this huge adventure. First time we tried to go to Denver to see our nephew & go to the Temple with him before his mission FAILED. We ended up in the airport in Jacksonville, then right back home. It was sad.

When we started this trip on Wednesday we were looking forward to a more successful trip, and it seemed to start that way. We got boarded on the plane at the right time, just to be informed that weather was bad in Houston and we were delayed an hour. So on the plane we sat, for an hour. We had a 55 minute layover in Houston, so things were not looking good. We finally took off, only to be put in a 15 minute holding pattern outside Houston. FINALLY, we landed in Houston & Craig & I took off running to our connecting flight, that we missed by 15 minutes. I was so sad. So we went to the Continental service desk & got a new flight the following morning on United.

So Wednesday night we stayed in the Houston airport. I learned a few things about that airport as well:
1) Nothing is open past 10 PM. We managed to find a pizza place open until 11. It was a miracle
2) Nothing opened until 5 or 6 am (including McDonald's). That was not going to work for our 6am flight.
3) Houston International Airport does not have free WiFi. I mean really? You are going to charge people to get online.
4) There is no good place to "sleep" in the Houston airport. I froze all night long, and never really slept.

So, we finally made it to Denver. I had been up for almost 24 hours &  was beat. I kept getting adrenaline rushes & that was probably the only reason I didn't pass out from exhaustion.

Thankfully our luggage also made it to Denver, seemingly the night before on the flight that we couldn't make. I guess our luggage was faster than us. Go figure.

Anyway, we got the car & headed to our Niece's house to nap & shower. Met her & Craig's brother for lunch, then started the trek North. Ever driven through Denver? It's an experience. Anyway, we made it.

We are now chilling in Fort Collins & just taking it easy. Vacation is good!!!

Puppies

My sister's dog had puppies last night. They are just so dang adorable. I love puppies. Well I love dogs for that matter, I'm just particular to small ones.
So here is a picture of one.

I mean how adorable is that? So cute. I'm excited for her.

School

So I'm back to school. I've been in class for 2 weeks now & I'm not enjoying it. It's probably because I'm an accountant and this is an economics class, which happens to be my least favorite subject EVER. Thankfully it's only the summer & hopefully it'll be quick. We'll see.....

I'm happy & I'm Blogging

To go along with [info]saintx and [info]literati_pygmy I shall blog too:

I'm happy, just like they are. In fact, it's because of [info]saintx that I'm happy. Happily married. Yeah, sometimes saying I'm married still sounds weird & I giggle every time someone uses Scurti as my last name. I mean, I realize it is my last name now, but it is still so new I can't help but get excited when I hear it attached to me. It's great.

Life is good.

Married Life

It's great. Having someone to go to bed with every night & to wake up to every morning is fantastic. It helps that my husband is amazing. I'm lucky that I get to call him mine. :)

Response

[info]literati_pygmy 's associations with me

-Nascar
I'm guessing everyone associates this we me. Maybe because I'm the only person they know that watches NASCAR?

-Mormon Babies (lol)
When I finally have children, they will obviously be Mormon Babies

-The happiest I've ever seen Craig
I'm glad that I can make Craig that happy & that his friends can see how happy he is.

-Heroes
I'm addicted, and it's all Craig's fault. It's also what brought us together.

-Needing to buy another dress (lol)

My wedding gave her an excuse to by a dress, so she got one, that was white, so now she's gonna get another new one. :)

My elaboration

So I guess I'm supposed to elabortate on whay [info]saintx identifies me with these things, so here goes nothing:

1. nascar, football, and country music
I'm pretty sure he had never sat & watched a NASCAR race until meeting me, maybe a football game, but that's highly doubtful too, and everyone knows country music is probably last on his list of music to listen to, but it's first on my list.
2. guitar hero
I could keep up with & sometimes beat him. That makes me rad.
3. the temple
In 12 days, we'll be sealed there, for Time & All Eternity. It's also the place that I knew he was the one I was going to marry.
4. 'camping'
I would imagine this is the trip we took with my family Thanksgiving weekend. We don't really "rough" it very well.
5. swimming for keys
A personal inside joke that we share.

Wedding Update

So it's all coming together:
  • My dress is here & I'm going to have it fitted tomorrow
  • All of the bridesmaid dresses are here too
  • I finally got the whole table decoration thing figured out & everything we need for that has been ordered & shipped
  • Cake Ordered, caterer decided on
  • Hotel Room for the honeymoon booked
  • We only have a few minute things left to do: Bishop Berry for the ring ceremony, marriage license, meeting with the Stake President for our Temple recommends. I think that's it.
What a relief. I'm finally not super stressed about it. That's exciting. We've got plenty of time before the wedding too. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. I'm getting married in less than a month!!!!
The showers were fun & now my living room is full of the stuff that we got. Some things have to go back, but for the most part, people stuck to the registry. That's cool too.

It's been a good time & is only going to get better

Home to You

So as I was riding home yesterday, this song came on the radio. John Michael Montgomery is my favorite artist, and I had actually forgotten about this song. Of course it made me think of [info]saintx and how lucky I am.

I get up and battle the day
Things don't always go my way
It might rain but that's okay
I get to come home to you
Sometimes life may get me down
And I get tired of getting kicked around
I feel lost in this maddening crowd
But I get to come home to you

You are my best friend
And you are where my heart is
And I know at the day's end
I get to come home to you

Hanging out in our old sweatshirts
You let me complain about a hard day's work
I don't know what I did to deserve
To get to come home to you

You are my best friend
And you are where my heart is
And I know at the day's end
I get to come home to you

You are my best friend
And you are where my heart is
And I know at the day's end
I get to come home to you

Yes I get to come home to you
Oh I love coming home to you
-John Michael Montgomery

Walking on Air

So I've been thinking lately that I'm the luckiest girl in the world. In just a few short days I'm getting married, sealed actually, for time & all eternity, to the greatest man. I'm still trying to figure out how I got so lucky. 6 months ago I would have laughed if someone told me a) I would be getting married this year and b) it would be to Craig Scurti. Yet here I am, 43ish days away from my sealing to him, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm blissfully happy. You know the feeling of being on cloud nine? or walking on air? Yeah, that's me. Sometimes I sit at work (trying to do taxes) and find myself day-dreaming, about Craig, or the wedding, or our future, or some kind of combination of those. Those day-dreams give me goosebumps from head to toe. It's easy to say I'm unbelieveably in love, and it's the best feeling in the world.

Enough mushy stuff, on the more exciting things: wedding plans. Yes, they've been driving me absolutely crazy. As of right now, we still don't have a caterer (though my Dad has a couple of people who are willing to do it, so we are closer than we were lasst week), we're not specific on who's heading up the decorting, nor do we have a cake (we were going to the bakery tomorrow, but they are booked, so we aren't going until Tuesday afternoon). We do have the building reserved, the tuxes rented, my dress is on its way, the announcements have been ordered & picked up, and stuffed in the envelopes. All we are waiting on is to print the lables. We really have gotten a lot done. It's hard to believe that the wedding is just a little over a month away.

I'M SO EXCITED.

Forever & a Day

It's been way to long since I've blogged. We'll see if I can get you all caught up:
  • Christmas was wonderful. We were able to spend time with both sides of the family. [info]saintx and I drove up to DC the weekend after Christmas to meet some of the missionaries I served with at the temple. It was awesome & we took some really cute engagement pictures while we were there. It was a killer long drive, but it was some great bonding. I really enjoyed the time we spent together.
  • New Years was pretty good too. Spent new years with [info]saintx [info]trouble_brewing & [info]chainedspecter playing Teenagers from Outerspace. It was a lot of fun. It was also great to have to have someone to kiss at New Years.
  • Wedding plans have taken over my life. We finally managed to get registered, gather most of our addresses, and have the announcements printed. We'll get to pick them up tomorrow. Then I'll have hours of stuffing envelopes and putting labels on. It'll be good fun.
  • So we started a weekly DnD game. Mike's running & me, Craig, Ben, & Savannah are playing. It's been alot  of fun so far. I'm starting to understand it better.
  • Saturday was Spirit of Elijah at the temple, so we went. I'm so glad that we were able to go. There were quite a few people at the temple, which is always exciting. We ended up spending most of the day out of town.
I'm sure that I'm missing lots of details, but that is the basic idea of the past few weeks. As you can tell, I've been busy, but I guess that keeps me out of trouble.

Rock Band

So it was a Rock Band night. Me, [info]saintx , [info]trouble_brewing , and [info]chainedspecter played some Rock Band till the neighbors below got tired of hearing me bang on the drums. Not that I can blame them. We did have silencers on the drums which made them so much better to play, but I'm sure still obnoxious at 11pm at night. I wouldn't want to be below that.

Needless to say my house isn't clean yet. I'm going to need to work on that, soon. I can't stand it. Even my garage is messy (mainly because that's where everything got dumped).

The weekend whirlwind trip to DC & back was quite uneventful and yet fun. Tons of time in the car, missionary reunions, beautiful temple, rain, and of course, catch-up time with Chelsea. That was the best part. We didn't necessarily have to go to DC to catch-up, but it was fun nonetheless.
[info]saintx drove most of the way, which I'm grateful for. I'm not a fan of driving long distances, especially at night. I did drive home from DC to Greensboro, but that was the extent of my time behind the steering wheel.

All in all Christmas was great. We spent time with all of our family which is great.

Goodd Weekend

Had a pretty good weekend. Got off at a decent hour Friday & got ready for the family Christmas party. It was a good time. I got to see some family that I hadn't seen since I'd gotten home from Colorado. At midnight I went with [info]saintx to see Repo. It was... well... I just don't  have words to describe.
Saturday I went with my sister to try on wedding dresses, she's getting married next year too. Figures that she'd be getting married pretty soon after me. Story of my life.
Saturday night
[info]saintx got tickets to see the Messiah. So me & [info]trouble_brewing went to see the symphony. It was a good concert. I really enjoyed it.
I fell asleep while waiting for Craig & he had to crawl in the window. I felt really bad about that.
I spent all day Sunday being lazy after church. Took a nap, visited with a good friend, played with my new phone. All very exciting.
Now this week is here, Christmas week. Talk about time flying. It'll be fun though!!!

After Midnight

Only crazy people are out & about after midnight & last night that included me. Went with [info]saintx to the Dark Night DVD midnight release. Nothing super special. We both had to work this morning so we couldn't even stay up and watch it when we got home. Orion went with us & he had a good time. I did get my other Harry Potter movie and put Mamma Mia on reserve. I won a movie poster, that I didn't really care about, so I gave it to [info]literati_pygmy . She was excited about it. My alarm went off at 6am and I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. I finally rolled out at 6:45 and started my day. And a crazy one it will probably be.....

Holiday Parties

So we partied Saturday night with my office. They are such a fun group to be with. Seriously, I'm not just saying that. We have so much fun when we all hang out. [info]saintx  went with me & met the rest of my "second family." Wasn't the best food I had ever eaten, but it was still ok. Beth's house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It just makes me grateful for good friends & a great place to work. And a great fiance who took the day off to be able to go with me.
